Minors do have the right to have an attorney appointed just as adults do. However many people do not realize that minors generally have less rights than adults.

Minors have the same rights to an attorney as an adult. This is a sixth amendment of the constitution right. Some laws are different for minors than for adults. Most are more favorable for the minor. All criminal cases revolve around the facts. When the right to have an attorney is one of the facts that have to be evaluated by an attorney. A good attorney can evaluate the facts and the charges and make the punishment less.

Yes, all persons regardless of age have the right to have counsel present when that person is arrested. The United States Constitution provides that a person has the right to an attorney throughout the entire phase of their criminal case as well as when they are being interrogated by police.
