Question

Can I drive in another state with a DUI?

If I got a DUI in California and had my license suspended, will I still be able to drive in another state? I have since moved.

It depends on whether the state has reciprocal laws, some do, and some do not; ask the DMV in your state. You should be able to get a hardship license by retaining a lawyer.

Every DMV in the country recognizes license suspensions and restrictions from every other state. When you apply for license in the new state, they will so advise you and deny a license when the check your record.

If you are pulled over and use the California license it will be checked and you would get ticked for driving with a suspended license.

Typically, if the state issuing the license suspends it, then you do not have a license for other states.

The answer depends on where your license was issued and whether it was revoked. If you hold a Minnesota license and received a DWI, your license is revoked. If you license was issued in Minnesota you cannot drive in any other state. If you hold an out of state license, you may continue to drive in other states unless or until the state that issued the license revokes or suspends that license. The usual process is that the DWI and Minnesota revocation is reported to the state that issued the license. That state then will revoke the license under their laws for the period of time specified by that state's laws. This may occur months after the original DWI in Minnesota.
